New Era - Chapel in the Woods
The chapel began in its journey in 1913 serving as an Episcopal Church
on a quiet street in Gwinn, Michigan.
When construction was completed, cows roamed the town freely and a
fence was built around the property to keep them out.
The name “Holy Innocents” was given to the church by one
of its benefactors Mrs. Murray Morris Duncan.
In 1948, plans were underway for a summer Episcopalian Conference
Center to be built on Little Lake. By 1950 the little chapel was moved
by its early founders to a new home surrounded by nature on the Page
Center campus.
Today, the Holy Innocents congregation continues to hold weekly services
at the nearly 100 year old chapel.
The New Era of the Page Center guests use the site for weddings, concerts,
drama, poetry and quiet mediation.
